Individual counseling is offered to individuals in helping them achieve control over actions through an understanding of how thoughts, feelings, and decisions produce actions. We provide a safe environment where one’s private pain can be shared in confidence with a trained therapist to grow in self-awareness and self-esteem while helping a person make decisions, solve problems, and overcome past and present abuses and pains. Sometimes when negative memories prohibit an individual from enjoying a satisfying life, issues in one’s family of origin can be explored to understand the past and seek to establish a new identity.
Feelings like fear, sorrow, anger, rejection, and loneliness can lessen as self-acceptance and coping skills are encouraged and strengthened.
Do You Find Yourself Unsatisfied? Do You Want More Out of Life?
Are you experiencing anxiety or depression? Has a traumatic event disrupted your ability to function normally on a regular basis? Maybe you are recognizing a need for something more from life. You may long to be more productive in your work, or enhance the important relationships in your life. Sometimes the biggest hindrance to us accomplishing our goals in life is ourselves via self-doubt, self-loathing, shame or depression. If you are in a permanent state of feeling helpless, GracePath offers individual counseling to help you to accept yourself and use your strengths to get to where you want to be in life. Counseling involves active participation, so you will be asked to step out of your comfort zone to experience a new take on life that you never felt possible.
Individual counseling can be extremely beneficial when you’re looking to take the next step forward in life. There are many different approaches to individual counseling, including, but not limited to, anger management, depression counseling and anxiety counseling. Whether there is a concrete concern, or simply the desire to improve your life, individual counseling gives you the opportunity to unlock a positive part of life that you may not have experienced. As your counselor, I help you identify certain areas of your life that could use improvement and give you the tools to help you individually grow with fulfillment and significance.

Marriage and couples counseling provides an arena where two people can learn to communicate individual needs and find ways to resolve relationship differences. All marriages go through difficult times. We are committed to helping couples identify the sources of dissatisfaction and conflict, and help couples develop new strategies for solving those problems. The goal of marriage counseling is the resolution of conflict: the development and strengthening of communication skills, and the growth of intimacy and mutual acceptance.
With the help of a counselor, couples are taught problem-solving skills in areas, such as, sexuality, parenting, and conflict resolution. It is our goal to strengthen communication so that as couples begin to address issues conflict becomes resolved and warmth and intimacy are rekindled. Counselors assess each partner’s areas of need, and facilitate problem-solving in areas such as time management, finances, child-rearing, and sexuality.
Whether just beginning your lives together, seeking a check-up along your journey, or discovering that your partnership is spiraling downhill quick, you can benefit from marriage and couples counseling. Relationship distress is some of the worst pain in life. We all long to feel seen, heard and valued by the person we love. When that connection is stressed or you cannot feel the safety and closeness you once felt, it feels like your world is falling apart.
In an effort to protect your relationship so it doesn’t blow up, you walk on eggshells, avoid each other or shut down. Or you try to talk, you try to be heard– only to have arguments which lead to further hurt, and the fear that you will never feel close again. No matter how hard you try, how hard your partner tries, the awful cycles continue.

Premarital counseling can help pave the way to a partnership that grows and lasts. As your counselor, I encourage couples to explore potential strengths and needs in the relationship, to discuss and resolve areas of disagreement, to develop a vision for the future, and to accept each other as individuals. The Taylor Johnson Temperament Analysis is used to discuss strengths and explore areas where further growth is advised. In order to develop communication that goes beyond surface level communication and selfishness a couple must understand that the relationship cannot be taken for granted with little desire to give attention to the other.
Attempting to establish a new course in life with one’s future partner can be emotionally and physically exhausting. Therefore, if there is any wind of self-centeredness within the storm of one’s anger and frustration the engaged person can find themselves propelled from gradually making any effort to work on such issues. Rather than seek measures to deepen the relationship and return to shore so that the both of them can learn how to become one flesh, their ship aimlessly wanders over the course of time with the assumption that the marriage is as good as it is going to get. At this point, there is a subtle inference between both partners in refusing to make any changes- personally or corporately. So many marriages that have been taken for granted present themselves with a false appearance before family and friends. In fact, issues are dealt with on a superficial level rather than working through one’s feelings so as to develop emotional intimacy. Therefore, as your counselor, I will provide a warm, encouraging context to clarify, identify, and enhance effective communication tools so as to help each couple with strong lasting relationships.
About Prepare-Enrich
PREPARE-ENRICH is the leading relationship inventory and couple’s assessment tool. Scientifically validated as a foundational program for premarital counseling, marriage enrichment, couples therapy, marriage mentoring and marriage education. PREPARE-ENRICH automatically tailors the content of the relationship assessment to fit each couple’s unique relationship stage and family structure
PREPARE-ENRICH is a customized couple assessment completed online that identifies a couple’s strength and growth areas. It is one of the most widely used programs for premarital counseling and premarital education. It is also used for marriage counseling, marriage enrichment, and dating couples considering engagement. Based on a couple’s assessment results, a trained facilitator provides 4-8 feedback sessions in which the facilitator helps the couple discuss and understand their results as they are taught proven relationship skills.
Prepare-Enrich Goals
The PREPARE/ENRICH Program has these goals for the couple:
Explore relationship strength and growth areas
Strengthen couple communication skills, including forgiveness
Identify and manage major stressors
Learn conflict resolution strategies using the Ten Step Model
Explore family-of-origin issues using the Couple and Family Map (Circumplex Model)
Discuss financial planning and budgeting
Develop personal, couple and family goals
Understand and appreciate personality differences
Each partner completes the inventory online (a 40-60-minute process that can be worked on and saved, if needed). Then you meet with me, the facilitator, together to go over areas of strength and growth in your relationship. At this time, I will help you talk to one another about the issues identified and/or whatever is on your mind leading up to marriage and commitment. I will provide you with time-tested exercises to increase understanding and skill in the areas of growth.

Is your family in jeopardy? Do you lack the communication skills to work through your issues and achieve the peaceful existence that you long for in your home? Family counseling helps family members gain an understanding of the disruptive problems in their family unit in efforts to discover workable solutions. Counseling targets the deficits and arguments within your family in order to improve communication skills.
Family Counseling Services
Achieving greater family harmony is only attainable by determining a better way of relating to one another. When walls of resentment are erected and certain touchy subjects are never discussed, then the family begins to drift apart, oftentimes without knowing what has hit them. Family counseling fights against this brewing storm by enabling the various family members to interact with honesty and acceptance and to lessen family habits that cause pain and unhealthy behaviors.
Families often come for counseling when they have difficulty resolving an issue. There is that elephant in the room that is just not going away on its own. There has to be work involved in listening to each side of the story and really hearing what is going on from all angles. When there is tension in one or more relationships, then such emotions are controlling the daily interactions among family members.
Communication
There are also certain life transitions, such as birth, death, marriage, divorce, relocation and retirement, that can deeply impact the whole family. Such transitions are anticipated while others come as a shock. These transitional points in life can either strengthen a family or tear it apart, and it takes a healthy level of communication to process such change in a healthy way.
Parenting and step-parenting are a common focus of counseling, as well, because leading a family through perilous circumstances is never easy nor is it the same for all. A counselor might work with an entire family group or some combination of its members. At GracePath Counseling, we understand that every family is different, and we strive to treat every family with a unique approach!
